COUP Kitchen

If I should ever find myself in Hong Kong again in the future, I would like to take a cooking class at Coup Kitchen. I want to learn how to make those dense but fluffy and moist Swiss roll cakes that you can buy at Chinese bakeries.

My first American Thanksgiving

The saddest Thanksgiving I can possibly imagine:

Quietly eating a turkey flavoured microwave dinner... alone, in a dark room with the soft glow of your laptop's screen reflecting off of your face.

That could have been me.

Thankfully, I was invited to MJ's "Just cuz you can't go home for turkey doesn't make you leftovers" Thanksgiving dinner. My adopted family for the evening consisted of Bay Area transplants and others who weren't spending Thanksgiving with their families for one reason or another.

MJ made the most delicious pumpkin soup I've ever tasted and jjapchae -- my favourite Korean dish! Eran's chocolate covered bacon strips and Jason's baked marshmallow yams were 2 of the most creative dishes I've ever tried any they were so yummy!

Watching Geek Entertainment TV

After dinner, we watched the 100th episode of Geek Entertainment TV, played PS3, watched God of Cookery and It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie. I don't think I've had a happier Thanksgiving.

Happy Mooncake Day!

According to the Lunar Calendar, today is the mid-autumn festival. I guess it's sort of like the Chinese version of Thanksgiving... sort of... but not really.

I brought mooncakes in to work today. They're not the traditional kind that's crammed with egg yolks (even though those are considered a delicacy, I think they are gross!) I bought some mini mooncakes made with more modern fillings, like green tea, longan, pineapple and coconut. Yum!

Be sure to go outside and look at the moon tonight! It'll be beautiful!

Lego my Eggo!

Via Mutant Log:

Neither Lego nor Eggo have said anything about the new Lego shaped Eggos but they appear to be a real product you can buy... not just an early April Fool's Day joke.
