Sandi Thom at Cafe du Nord
Mike and I went to see Sandi Thom at the Cafe du Nord tonight. She was really awesome and her musical talent was evident during her performance. She sang and played the guitar and harmonica. Instead of drums, her percussionist played a wooden box that he sat on. I thought Sandi's guitar was quite big for someone her size and commented about it to Mike. Near the end of the show, she told the audience that all her equipment was lost on her flight to New York and they had to scramble around to borrow equipment.
At the end of the show, Sandi gave away free autographed copies of her Single, "I wish I was a punk rocker" and I was the lucky last person to get one before she ran out. I talked to her for a bit... well, more like gushed incoherently like a giddy fangirl. She seemed quite tired from jet lag so I stopped.
What surprised me the most was that the crowd was a bit older than I expected. I would say that the majority of the fans were middle-aged and Mike and I were probably the youngest people there. What didn't surprise me was that there were a lot of Brits in the audience.
Mike enjoyed the show too, especially because he got a pint of beer on the house.

ROFLMAO!

I went to Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco this evening with Adam, Geoff and Mike to see Dave Attell. We sat in the second row, just beyond stage right (the actor's right.) At some point during Dave Attell's act, he warned the audience that he was going to tell a tasteless tsunami joke. I just so happened to need to take a pee so I got up and made a bee line for the washroom. Apparently, I caught Dave's attention because a slew of little girl/midget jokes ensued at my expense. After I got back to my seat, a few more small people jokes were dished out and Dave called Mike a "huge Swedish guy." [insert big penis jokes here] It was all good. I scored a free copy of Dave Attell's "Hey, Your Mouth's not Pregnant!" DVD for being a good sport.
Coincidentally, Adam wanted to buy the exact same DVD, so we'll probably end up watching it as a group at the next few poker nights.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest today. It was entertaining, but I liked the first movie more.
When I was in Toronto a couple of weeks ago, I picked up Nelly Furtado's new album, "Loose". There are some catchy tunes on the CD, but there's something about her voice that makes me tire of it easily. I don't know why people like her so much.
I was listening to a Parisian radio station today when I discovered an artist by the name of Sandi Thom. I like her song, "I wish I was a Punk Rocker". Coincidentally, she's on her North American tour right now, and she will be playing in San Francisco next Wednesday. I'm going to try to make it to the show. Mike doesn't seem enthusiastic about it, so if anyone else wants to come with me, let me know.

My Cubicle
My Cubicle (listen here)
Lyrics by: Morning Sidekick
Performed by: Jym Britton
Parody on "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt
My job is stupid my day's a bore,
Inside this office from eight to four
Nothin' ever happens my life is pretty bland,
Pretending that I'm working, pray I don't get canned.
My cubicle, my cubicle
It's one of sixty two
It's my small space in a crowded place
Just a six-by-six foot booth
And I hate it that's the truth
When I give a sigh as the boss walks by,
No one ever talks to me or looks me in the eye.
And I really should work but instead I just sit here and surf the Internet.
In my cubicle, my cubicle
It doesn't have a view.
It's my small space in a crowded place
I sit in solitude.
And sometimes I sit here nude.
